Why Even Bother?

Why?
Why?
Why?
This is a poem I wrote at one point.  I’m not sure why I was led to write it, and, really, rhyming poetry can sound too sing-songy, so please don’t take this as the best example of my writing, because it is sooo not.
Why even bother?
Why even try,
When even the truth is a lie?
Sometimes the thunder just makes me cry.
And the rain falls down from a darker blue sky.
Everything kicks me in the belly,
And I begin to cry.
The embarrassments are heaven sent,
When the truth is bent.
You weren’t a gent,
Or even Clark Kent.
Hot apple pie,
Making love in the nigh.
I must have been high,
But why even bother?
Why even try,
When even the truth is a lie?
Evanescence–They’ll never see.  I’ll never be.  I struggle on and on to feed this hunger burning deep inside of me.
