Money And Mayhem

Projectile vomiting PacMan is irrelevant to the discussion, but my brother drew him and is totally cool!

I hate work. Oh, I know. I’m not the only person in the entire world who has ever hated her job.

It’s just that I have no time for friends, except the few people I work with who actually wish to spend time with me during our breaks. I have very little time for my lover, but our time together is lovely. I am literally down to my last dime, not counting my “not money.” I think everyone should have “not money.” Every paycheck I have a system:

  1. Cash check via direct deposit.
  2. $100 Automatically goes into savings.
  3. Pay bills.
  4. Buy Necessities.
  5. Record all transactions in ledger.
  6. After bills transfer all but $100 into savings.
  7. Allow myself $40 cash as spending money.

So far this system has worked. My rent is $350. The only other bills I pay are electric and my cell phone. I also have a student loan of $3500 which they want me to pay $100 on each month. I have an old hospital bill that is approximately $1000 that I must also pay $100 on each month. I make $7.20/hr. Groceries I buy when I need them, but I can spend anywhere from $20 to $75 depending on what else I need and what I choose to waste my money on.

I am supposed to get 40 hours a week, 80 a pay period, but I end up with lots of overtime because I work overnight. Every time I do the math it scares me. I worry too much about everything I suppose. It is all part of that infamous chaos complex. Worry myself right into a disaster. If my mind focuses too much on what can go wrong it will go wrong. I needn’t put myself through that. I needn’t, but I do. I worry myself sick about money, but I hate my job. Isn’t life funny sometimes.

Alanis Morrisette–Isn’t it ironic, dontcha think? A little too ironic, and yeah I really do think. It’s like rain on your wedding day. It’s a free ride when you’ve already paid. It’s the good advice that you just didn’t take. Who would’ve thought, it figures? Life has a funny way of sneaking up on you. Life has a funny, funny way of helping you out, helping you out!
